CIRS Review Committee
The CIRS Review Committee is appointed by the Vice Chancellor for Research (VCR). To ensure a broad representation of disciplines, nominations to the CIRS Review Committee are made by the leadership of the colleges, schools, units, and centers that comprise UIUC. Committee members are chosen for their vision, scholarly excellence, and their familiarity with the breadth and depth of scholarship pursued on our campus.
The CIRS Review Committee typically reviews between 75-90 pre-proposals during the annual review cycle. Between 8 – 16 of these projects will be developed into Full or Planning Proposals. The CIRS Program anticipates funding approximately 50% of this final group.
As they review invited proposals, the Committee may request further information, suggest changes, consult with others on- or off-campus, or seek to meet with applicants to discuss various aspects of the proposed project. At the end of the review cycle, the Committee will forward recommendations to the VCR for full or partial funding of between 4 – 8 projects.
