Welcome
The Illinois Campus Research Board was established in June of 1932 to serve the campus as a conduit to distribute funding in support of individual or group research projects to faculty members. While funding from the Board is not intended to be a source of continuing support for research activities or research facilities, the Board expects to:
- Help promising new faculty initiate their research on this campus
- Provide seed money for research in new directions
- Provide support for preliminary studies to improve the potential for attracting external research support
- Supplement the resources available from campus units and external sponsors
- Provide modest resources for important research in fields for which external support is either quite limited or unavailable
The Board supports faculty research needs through five distinct programs – Research Board Awards, the Performing Arts & Design Program, the Humanities Released Time Program, the Scholars’ Travel Fund Program, and, for eligible faculty spouses/partners, the Research Scholars’ Program.
The Campus Research Board operates on an academic year schedule, with no activity during the summer months.
