NASA Mission Led by Lara Waldrop Renamed in Honor of George Carruthers

A $75M NASA mission led by Lara Waldrop has been renamed in honor of George Carruthers, a 3-time UIUC graduate who invented the camera that captured the first images of Earth in ultraviolet light. The Carruthers Geocorona Observatory will launch in 2025.
